With more than 500 scripted series produced this year, discovering TV shows that will make your summer prodigious and your life better is going to be harder than ever. We are halfway through this year, so the decision for choosing your content wisely is a task in itself. That’s where this system of ranking comes in. Here are a few TV shows that can make your day and you can binge watch this summer.

The Handmaid’s Tale

Inspired by Margaret Atwood’s ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ is a gruesome and a dystopian (futuristic) novel set in a fictional place called the ‘Republic of Gilead’. In an era of declining birth rates and dictatorship, fertile women are forced into a role called the ‘handmaids’ which involves being captive and producing children for the ruling class. The show is a narrative by a woman called Offred and believe me, this is just the beginning. In a way, the show is a window to the future we are headed.

Stranger Things

This supernatural series set in the 1980s in Hawkins, Indiana is probably the weirdest thing you would have seen all summer. Things keep getting stranger in this average little town when a young boy named Will disappears into thin air. To find their friend, three best friends come together only to land upon an experimented human with supernatural abilities called ‘Eleven’. Watch the two seasons to find out about all the ‘Stranger Things’.

PS: Season 3 is in production.

With more than three years of its streaming, The Flash follows a crime scene invigilator, Barry Allen, with superhuman speed, fights criminals. He acquires this remarkable speed through a freak accident and becomes known as the Fastest Man Alive in this adaptation. This season is packed with humour, spectacle and a whole lot of heart.

That 70s Show

In the mood to reminisce about the awkwardness of adolescence, your first crush, your first kiss, your first heartbreak, your first car? You’ve landed in the right place. In the time of 8- tracks, bell-bottoms, platform shoes and puka shells Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher gave us couple goals. While The Orange Is The New Black star, Laura Prepon drops major sarcasm while she woos the adorable Eric Forman a.k.a. Topher Grace. And how can you forget wise care Hyde (Danny Masterson) and the exchange students who are horny-yet-holier-than-thou Fez (Wilmer Valderrama) whose country of origin we’re left guessing?

The Walking Dead

This American post meridian horror television series is based on a comic book series. It is a post-apocalyptic zombie-infested world with a thrilling prospect which will always pull viewers toward it. One of the most intriguing TV series, this show is all about survival, the risks and the things you’ll have to do to survive. This series is a must watch and is a source of grand entertainment for most.

House of Cards

Ruthless Congressmen will stop at nothing to ascend the ranks of Washington D.C. This wicked political drama changed the stats of streaming services when it was launched five years ago. Francis Underwood a.k.a. Kevin Spacey lights the halls of the White House on fire with his charismatic and evil strategies. But don’t for a second think Claire Underwood a.k.a. Robin Wright is left behind (wait for the upcoming season to know what I mean).

Altered Carbon

Netflix has poured a huge amount of money into this cyberpunk adaption and it certainly shows. Viewers are taken to a futuristic world where humans think of their flesh and blood only as sleeves. The result? Memories and thoughts are stored in chips at the base of the neck that can be transported to another bag of flesh. The series follows a former terrorist who is given a chance of redemption by solving a super-rich man’s murder. It’s a dark, dystopian world full of bad weather and lots of sex. It might start a little ponderously but, Altered Carbon soon picks up the pace.
