We all know how the word examination breaks beads of sweat on our forehead and petrifies us. Well, of course, that’s a natural response to something that could be daunting. But what if I told you that, you can make giving exams a breeze? And that you can actually enjoy this process of taking up a challenge. Yes, you heard it right! All you have to do is, attend college. Yes, I can hear your groans, but read on for a couple of minutes cause here’s how college ensures that you prepare better for examinations.

  1. Are lectures informative?

Yes! Most of us would love to believe that sleeping is better than attending lectures. But, chances are you’re missing out on a lot of new information! Your college professors are well read and have years of experience and exposure. If you want to prepare well for exams, you need to understand the basics of the subject. Without understanding the subject, it’s difficult to comprehend new concepts associated with it. Professors will help you solve doubts if you show a keen interest in the subject.

Obviously though, if your professors are not providing you any new information then feel free to skip this step, but replace those professors by the smart ones you can find in some courses online.

“The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.”

― Albert Einstein

2. Make the library your best friend!

The Internet has gained momentum over the last few years. Despite this, book’s continue to be a credible source of information.

Books cover relevant examples and give insight into detailed information about various subjects. It will also give you more written material which you can use to write in the examination. You will realise that reading books will improve the quality of your content.

Certain things you can keep in mind while skimming through books in the library are:

-The name of the author. Is he well known?
-Read a book suggested by a professor
-Referring to the recent editions of the books and
Making notes of important points.

3. Read, Listen and Discuss

The best part about college is being able to exchange ideas and thoughts on different topics. If you happen to come across new terms and put it forth for discussion, the clarity of the subject increases. It will also ensure that you take different points of view into consideration. The more you read and discuss, the more you’ll understand the myriad perspectives people have. It will help you construct impressive introductions and conclusions for your answers.

McKim School of Business conducted a research. Out of 264 students, 70% of them felt that discussions in class help them learn better. The students believed having discussions fostered them to prepare better for the class. Isn’t it an interesting way to quench your thirst for knowledge?

4. More encouraging than you think

I always felt that missing out on one day’s lecture in equal to losing out on that much of information. Unlike the internet, (which most of us turn to in case of doubts) lectures are a two-way communication. This is helpful because the professor ensures that you attend important lectures. Work hard and you’ll receive appreciation and encouragement. These two factors are crucial for an individual to excel in their academics. This will keep you motivated and help you prepare better for exams. The College thus ensures that you’re in touch with academics, be it through projects or lectures. Good mentors are integral to bring out the best in you.

“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.”

-H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Academics are important. Even more if you want to go for higher education. Therefore, you must devote some time to prepare for exams. Instead of cramming it for the end, start preparing in advance. In this way, you will enjoy the process of learning in college at your own pace.

Ps:  Don’t forget to put your alarm for tomorrow’s lecture!
