One of the most appealing aspects of any university is its campus placements. But what happens if your college does not provide you with campus placements? Don’t worry it’s not as bad as people make it sound. You can get a job even without college placements. All it requires is a little more effort. And by little more, I mean possibly a lot. But it all depends on your outlook and your ability to endeavour. When you are fresh out of college, you have it constantly at the back of your mind that you need to get the job of your dreams or at least conquer the first rung of the ladder. All you need is guidance. So here are few steps you need to be mindful of when you’re looking for a job and wish to land it too:

Maintain your resume

The purpose of a resume or CV is to provide a summary of your skills, abilities and accomplishments. Appear for competitive exams

Once you graduate you will find yourself with a lot of options in terms of competitive exams. These exams are hard to crack but once you do, your job is assured. Make sure to be informed about the dates of competitive exams, when are their forms available, what all documents are required, etc. So if you don’t want to run around a lot, just sit yourself down to study and ace the exam and get yourself a job that not only pays well but also has a reputation. Appear for language tests like TOEFL, IELTS, etc. These are sure to give you that extra edge when looking for a job.

Be a part of Facebook groups, company groups and stay in touch with your college seniors, you never know who might have landed a top-notch corporate job. Having a strong network instantly improves your chances of getting a job after graduation.

Be updated on social media

Social media is a powerful job-hunting tool, and there are unlimited opportunities for you to socialize through it. Sign up on various websites that have job registration. Follow recruiting managers on Twitter and create a strong profile. This increases your chances of getting a job. Keep track of companies and influencers by following them on various social platforms. let’s not forget LinkedIn. It is even better than Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Companies regularly post new job openings on LinkedIn and you can directly contact the company representatives.

The most important thing to remember is that you must not lose hope. There will be difficult times, times when your hard work just won’t pay off like you would want it to. You might go for 50 job interviews and not hear back from any but that does not mean you’re not good enough, maybe you just need to try harder or enhance yourself in places your lagging. Take care of the above-mentioned things, work hard and pretty soon you will find yourself working your way to your aim.
